Genki 1-Lesson 1 New Friends

I use Genki 1 for my private tutoring all the time. I consider Genki sires to be the most effective textbooks for those who are learning beginner level Japanese. They have many exercises with fun illustrations and characters, so it is fun and effective. 🙂

かいわ-Dialogue 1

Mary, an international student who just arrived in Japan, talks to a Japanese student.

1. メアリー：すみません。いま　なんじですか。

2. たけし：　じゅうにじはんです。

3. メアリー：ありがとうございます。

4. たけし：いいえ。

かいわ-Dialogue 1 English translation

1. Mary: Excuse me. What time is it now?

2. Takeshi: It’s 12:30pm.

3. Mary: Thank you.

4. Takeshi: You’re welcome.

Dialogue 2

1. たけし：あの、りゅうがくせいですか。

2.メアリー：ええ、アリゾナだいがくの　がくせいです。

3.たけし：　そうですか。せんこうは、なんですか。

4. メアリー：にほんごです。いま　にねんせいです。

かいわ：Dialogue 2-English Translation

1. Takeshi: Um…are you an international student?

2. Mary: Yes, I am a student at the University of Arizona.

3. Takeshi: I see. What is your major?

4. Mary: Japanese. I am a sophomore now.
