Life-size Thomas The Tank Engine

This is so exciting! Shizuoka Prefecture’s Oigawa recently recreated a life-size Thomas The Tank Engine.

Thomas The Tank Engine TV show is so popular in Japan and it’s attracting hundreds of children in Japan. The company is surprised at how popular the train is and hundreds of Japanese children were watching test runs..

This is the first service of its kinds in East Asia and this small local operate in Shizuoka prefecture can’t be more proud to have converted an ordinary steam locomotive into this super popular creation.

“The train service, which will run for three months from July, has proved popular with Thomas buffs and all tickets have already sold out, the company said. ”

Thomas The Tank Engine is known as “Kikansha Toomasu” in Japanese. The first animation was broadcasted in the 80s and it was narrated by Ringo Starr. Japan has the super fast bullet train (“Shinkansen”) so this is pretty interesting that this super cute “Kikansha Toomasu” will be running through the countryside. It is so exciting for fans to actually be able to see the full sized Thomas the Tank..it is a bit scary though. 😉
