NK Secret Russian Labor Camp

ooo….I am not sure what to make of this documentary on North Korea’s “secret” labor camp, which is located in the middle of nowhere in Siberia, Russia. This documentary was produced by Vice Media Inc. They go to different parts of the world to film controversial documentaries. I came across their documentary titled “the love industry in Japan” and it was quite entertaining..but I don’t know about this documentary on North Korean labor camp. They first went to North Korea in an attempt to film how ordinary people live in North Korea but of course they needed a special issued by a government and they were only allowed to see what’s approved by North Korean government. Then they got the information about the secret labor camp in Russia and North Korean government has been outsourcing their people to these camps.

The show is entertaining as the rest of their documentaries but it isn’t very funny to approach these “slave” workers who are basically forced to go there to work non-stop by North Korean government. I don’t think the subject shouldn’t be treated lightly and I didn’t like the way the production of this documentary filmed this whole thing as an entertainment. Of course these people didn’t voluntarily leave their family and friends to work in Siberian labor camp so I didn’t think the whole documentary was properly documenting the “real” standard of living in North Korea..well, they managed to capture some of the reality but people would have easily taken this lightly because of the way this show is filmed.
