Shinsuke Shimada wins the lawsuit

Shimada Shinsuke

shimada shinsuke is a former Japanese comedian and TV host.

I don’t know if you know this Japanese comedian and TV presenter/host, Shinsuke Shimada. He is a former Japanese talent, who resigned over his rumored relationship with Yakuza (Japanese mafia). He used to dominate Japanese TV show. In 2011, Shimada sobbed and showed little remorse as he let the world know that he was resigning and retiring from TV media at the age of 55.

Shimada allegedly exchanged text messages with the leader of an Osaka-based Mafia affliated to the Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan’s biggest underworld organization. Shimada tearfully explained that he had met with this individual four or five times (yes, right!!). He also explained that his gangster friend had helped resolve his personal issue.

Japan’s entertainment business is very strict and they are not flexible about their talents being involved with Mafia, drugs and illegal activities. This wasn’t the first time Shimada was in trouble. In 2004, Shimada was suspended from work and was fined 300,000 yen for punching a female colleague. Yes, punching a woman. I found that disgusting, and he should have resigned at that moment. I was personally infuriated at the Japanese media which was generally sympathetic toward Shimada.

Shimada filed a lawsuit against a publisher (“Friday) for defamation. Friday reported that Shimada obtained property at a much lower rate using his relationship with mafia group. Regardless of the outcome of this lawsuit, I don’t think he should return to the Japanese entertainment business.
