Foreigners working longer hours via counterfeit resident cards

According to the Justice Ministry’s immigration buearu at least 33 cases of counterfeit resident cards issued to foreigners staying in Japan have been found. Only 33..I live in America and millions of workers who have been staying illegally without proper documents live here. But immigration law is more strictly enforced in Japan, as police can ask for visa and passport when they run into those who don’t look like typical Japanese. It is illegal in America. Arizona legalized this act, and human rights organization advocating for illegal immigrants went crazy over this.

Some of these residents may be international students attending Japanese language school but they carry the fake documentation in order to work longer hours than allowed by their actual resident status. The new foreign resident card system was introduced last year, and it is said that about 1.105 million of these cards were issued in a 10-month period after the new system entered into effect.

Many of the card folders who carried fake documentation were visa overstayers meaning their visa expired but still living in Japan.
