Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu: Happy New Year

Kotoshi mo douzo yoroshiku onegai itashimasu: I wish our relationship will continue to flourish this year.

Japanese people say “Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu” meaning happy new year on January 1st and after, and I know it is a bit late for me to say that because January is almost ending. Time flew by so fast last time, and I can’t believe that Christmas and Oomisoka (new year’s even) are already over and we are heading toward Spring and Summer now..time goes by so quickly. But overall 2012 was a good year. I started a new job as a program coordinator at the university. I still work for the same department, but fortunately I had an opportunity to try something new. The downside of having a new job is to having to cut back on my tutoring hours..I feel so bad that I have not been tutoring for a quite a while, and I definitely want to get back into regular tutoring sessions this year. It’s still “a job” for me because I have to pay the bills, but I really enjoy teaching my first language and especially working with people from different backgrounds. I’ve met some really nice students for the past few years. Thank you for learning Japanese! It is probably the most rewarding moment as an instructor. My new year’s resolution is to resume my Japanese tutoring services, be successful on diet, and to have a fulfilling year, in which I hope not to feel like time is flying back again. Life is too short, so I want to enjoy even a moment because there is no time to waste. 🙂 Don’t you agree with me? I know this is a little late, but I hope you had a great Christmas season, and enjoyed New Year’s eve with your family. I wish you the new year will bring joy and all the happiness for you and your family.
