How to install Japanese characters on your mac computer

1)      Go to System preferences and click on “international” icon.

2)      Then you see 3 tabs on the top of the “international” window. Click on the one labeled “input menu” and check “kotoeri” and “hiragana”.

3)      After that you should see the language icon on the top right. You will see an American flag icon and if you click that, you can switch to Japanese input mode. Select Hiragana.

4)      People ask me how that works, but you can totally type Japanese characters by typing Japanese with Romaji. You basically type with English letters. For instance, if you want to type.. Japanese (nihonjin)

Type nihonjin then type “space” and there are different selections of Kanji and once you find the right Kanji, you hit enter and then you move onto a new word.

nihonjin

日本人

Hit “enter” after you type each word and kanji.
