No dancing after midnight

I am surprised to learn that Japanese government has prohibited night clubs to close by midnight or at most by 1 AM. In California, they don’t serve alcohol after 2am but they do not close the clubs by midnight..This is totally crazy! I was telling my friends in San Diego that night clubs are open all night in big cities in Japan..I guess that is not the case anymore!

Clubs which want to stay open put up the sign saying “No dancing!”. What’s the point of opening the club if you aren’t allowed to dance?! LOL Unfortunately Japan’s night scene quickly deteriorated because of no-dancing law. What’s wrong with dancing past the midnight? I really don’t understand this. I sort of understand why bars in California don’t want to serve alcohol past 2pm..
