One thing that I was hesitant to do when I first moved to America..was hugging. It is just not my culture to hug other people and I have never even hugged my family! So it was awkward for me to hug random people after meeting just once. Even though hug is not part of Japanese culture, people are lonely in the country and we do want to hug and feel supported once in a while. So Japanese company invented a chair that does the hugging job.

I think Japanese people are the most creative in the world..don’t you think?

It’s called “tranquility chair”

But but this hugging chair isn’t cheap. It is approximately $419!!! People buy that to feel “safe” “heal” and it soothes our lonely minds.

The company created this chair especially for lonely old people in Japan as the country is aging rapidly.

This is kind of cool but the weird thing is that I have never seen this in Japan…. 🙄
