The train stops at a station for one passenger

This is a very heart warming story about the Japan’s local authorities’ decision not to shut down the remote train station in Hokkaido. The Hokkaido Railway company was planning to close down the Kami-Shirataki station three years ago.

But after learning that one high school student commutes to school everyday, they decided not to close.

Currently, the train is serving one passenger.

Teenager Kana takes train twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Hokkaido Railway Co has been praised for its commitment to serve its customer and they plan to close down the station for good in late March when Kana graduates from high school.

What a good story. Your thoughts?
