Apartment in Japan

Studio in JapanIt is just like in America when I first moved and looked for a car..it was a disaster.. 😎 Because I expected People wto be more friendlier, I was a very naive 19 years old. Soon realize that this is a business https://get-locksmith.com/nyc, I have to find an apartment..studio: in Japanese it is called わんルーム(一部屋)is the cheapest and definitely the size of the studio in America is bigger than the ones in Japan…so that’s good. What makes it more complicated both here and Japan is that most brokers won’t just have you sign their lease without credit history, stable employment history. It is kind of tricky because many foreigners wouldn’t have credit history score in Japan but I have to do some research on this ..I think Japan uses different scale to analyze the liability of the person.

Another option for foreigners is to simply drive with your foreign driver’s licenses. In California, Japanese people can drive with their licenses within a certain period of time and there is a treaty with Japan. So if works, don’t bother taking driving test in Japan unless you want to be challenged! ^_^V For me, I quit after 3 times…

Also there are many foreign students complaining about being turned down their apartment applications because they were not Japanese.I apologized for it and I am not making excuses but if were to look for a place in the countryside of Japan, these landlords have never worked with Gaikokujin  thus they may not know what to do quite frankly. If I was in your shoe, Here are the things I would try.

Find an employment in your country that will take care of work related visa for Japan and also housing. It is almost impossible to rent a space unless the company can arrange that or your Japanese friend has to be willing to sign the lease.

If you are a college student and planning to stay Japan for a long term, your college should have student living assistant program so they may be able to find you a nice host family .

If you still wanna go traditional, you should bring two or three Japanese people just in case and you would need co-signer (Japanese). and hopefully they are willing to be the co-signers. 🙂

I must admit that I have never gotten those studio myself in Japan because I left high school..but my sisters and my best are renting tiny studios! 😉
