How long does it take to become fluent in Japanese?

A: We are frequently asked this, and our answer is that it really depends on the time students spend studying, taking lessons and motivation. On average, current students who did not have any experience with Japanese language begin to speak conversational Japanese in three to four months of taking our lessons.

How do online language lessons work?

A: We currently offer both private and small group lessons. Online Japanese language lessons are held via Skype interactive calls. We also use the Skype group video system for our group lessons. Skype is offered free of charge for private lessons, and we take care of Skype’s video conference call features so all you need to do is to create a Skype account and join our private or group lessons. We maximize the effectiveness of virtual lessons by using both text, video and audio features Skype offers. Please take a moment to read our past and existing students’ testimonials available on our homepage. Our online language lessons reduce costs and travel time and you can take lessons or classes from the comfort of your home! Another obvious advantage is that you can join our lessons from anywhere with internet access and Skype. Our online courses started in 2007 and have been effectively helping many learners. We strive for the higest quality online classes either in one-on-one or a small group setting.

How can I join your online Japanese classes?

A: Please click “registration and inquiries” tab and fill out your contact information. We will contact you to set up a time upon receiving your registration form. Once payment has been made, we will send you a formal confirmation of your Japanese lessons.

What is the cancellation policy for private lesson?

A: We require 24 to 48 hours in advance of the reserved lesson or a 100% charge will apply. We understand that things come up but please test your internet connection and test your Skype connection prior to each lesson.

Is there a discount for the course?

A: Yes. When you purchase a package of 5 lessons, we do give 10% discount. Lessons should be taken within 2 months. We also offer promotional offers from time to time, so be sure to check our website frequently!

Is tutor from Japan?

A:Yes. Yumi is originally from Japan, and have a degree from university in California. She has over eight years of experience teaching both individuals and small groups. She also has an online education technology certificate through UCSD extension. She is completely fluent in English and Japanese and will be able to answer even the most complicated questions related Japanese grammars.

What is the difference between online courses and in person tutoring, classes etc?

A: Benefit of online courses is that you can learn at your own convenient time and location. Nowadays most people are busy with their school and work schedule. Since online tutoring session enables you to take lesson without having to drive to school, where tutor is located etc. Consistency is extremely important to successfully master a new language. So this program has been great help for busy students and working professionals. You learn both written and spoken Japanese, so this is just like in person tutoring.

How can I make a payment for the course?

A: All courses are prepaid via paypal. Please go to “Course Selection” tab and make a payment via PayPal. Once payment is received, we will email you to confirm your lesson.

What kind of books are used, and are they included in course fees?

A: We use Genki 1 & 2 for beginners and lower intermediate learners. Genki series offer audio and workbook. Our past and current students have benefited from these books so we use Genki 1 & 2. For advanced level learners, we have customized learning materials which fit your pace and leaerning style. Due to copy right issues, we are unable to distribute electronic copies of these books, but Amazon offers used books at reasonable prices.
