Izakaya-Japanese bars

Drinking is an important part of Japanese society. People in Japan often go to Izakaya with their colleagues after work and friends often have drinking parties at their local popular Japanese pubs, which are everywhere. Japanese people value “wa”, which means harmony and drinking is considered to improve “wa” among coworkers, friends and families. You find a large types of alcoholic beverages at Izakaya.

It had been a while since I last returned to Japan, but my parents took me to Izakaya to celebrate my early birthday. Izakaya normally offer many appetizers and drinks which include but not limited to cocktail, beer, Soju, Sake..You can probably find anything there. I am not a drinker, but if I have an opportunity, I normally order cocktail so it isn’t too strong for me. 🙂 On the other hand, my parents, my dad is a hardcore drinker so he loves going to Izakaya.

So today, I wanted to introduce you to different types of Japanese beers. Beer is probably the most popular in Japan, and the leading brands are Asahi, Kirin, Suntory, and Sapporo. I remember my father always drinking beers after work, and he said that was his way of relaxing after working so hard. That is understandable.
