Christmas in America

I have not been back to Japan during Christmas season. I recently went to Japan but that was in November. No, I did not eat Turkey on Thanksgiving in Japan. 🙂

Christmas Eve is the most romantic day of the year in Japan. Couples celebrate together and I did that when I was dating my Japanese boyfriend back then. (How many years ago was it?!)

So how do I celebrate Christmas here in the U.S.? I am so happy because that’s when I get lots of presents from my hubby and his mother. It is also kind of stressful as I struggle to buy all these small gifts in return. In fact, I am going to do the last minute Christmas shopping today.

We are not religious so don’t go to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Just like Japan, Christmas has become very commercial and it is hard to resist the temptation to buy..and of course, you can get great deals the day after Christmas. It’s called “After-Christmas Sales”

But I am just thankful that we are celebrating Christmas again this year and this is a great time to enjoy the moment as many people have a day off on Christmas. It’s not about presents but it is about who you spend time with..and just be grateful for food, presents..(!) and the moments..this moment that we get to share with our special people..
