Unbroken will be premiered in Tokyo

The controversial Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken”, the movie that depicts the torture in prisoner-of-war camps that took place during the World War 2 in Japan. I wrote about this, and why some Japanese people are strongly against the release of Angelina’s movie in Japan.
They are concerned that right wing activists in Japan will protest across the country, as the subsequent screenings of unbroken are scheduled across Japan.
The film was released in the U.S. and UK in December 2014 but it has never been released in Japan, as rightwing protestors believe that Jolie unfairly depicts Japanese guards.
The movie is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s 2010 book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, it follows the life story of American Olympic runner and US Air Force second lieutenant Louis Zamperini.
Zamperini was severely tortured by prison guard named Matsuhiro Watanabe whose nick name is the “Bird”. The timing of the release of Jolie’s movie may not be appropriate, considering tensions between Japan and China are increasing.
