In Japan, women splurge on Valentine’s Day gifts

In Japan, guys are lucky on Valentine’s Day..because they are the ones who get chocolate!

I used to get chocolate and a card for my Japanese boyfriend on Valentine’s Day but now I enjoy being on the receiving end. 🙂

Romantic dinner if he can find any restaurant and usually that doesn’t happen on Valentine’s day, so we do something together on the weekend.

So what do men do in return? Men do reciprocate on so called White day, which is on March 14, 2016. They typically buy candies or something simple, nothing too fancy as this isn’t Christmas eve.

What makes Japanese valentine’s day interesting is that they do give chocolate, sweets to father, make colleagues, bosses..it’s called “Giri choco” Giri means “obligatory” in English.
